The 72nd Conference of the Japanese Association of Indian and Buddhist Studies will be held at Otani University. Details are given below. We look forward to everyone’s participation.

Place Otani University (Koyamakamifusacho, Kitaku, Kyoto)
This conference may be held online to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Time Limit for Presentations 15 minutes plus 5 minutes for discussion
Special Session Theme:  “Other Power and Salvation 他力と救済” (on September 4th or 5th)
Those who wish to present in this special session should choose “Special Session 特別部会” as their “Preferred Presentation Session 発表希望部会” when applying on the Association’s website.
Conference Participation Fee ¥2,000 (by bank transfer or PayPal)
Reception No face-to-face conference reception is planned.

 

 

 

About Applying

 

• How to Apply

Applications are only accepted via the Association’s website.

 

The application form will be available starting on March 1st.

 

(The applications to attend/present at the conference will only be accepted via the Association’s website. Applications will not be accepted via postal mail.)

• Application Period

Start: March 1st (Monday) / End: March 15th (Monday)

 

※If due to unavoidable circumstances you are unable to apply via the Association’s website, please contact the Association’s secretariat by March 5th (Friday).

  ※Individuals wishing to only attend the conference without presenting may apply on the Association’s website until August 20th (Friday).
• Notes

1. Individuals must have a Google account and presentation abstract to apply.

 

※Please follow the form’s instructions to submit your abstract (400 to 800 Japanese characters or no more than 400 words in English).

※Please make sure that your abstract communicates the major points of your presentation as well as its significance.

 

2. Presentation title and content may not be changed after the application.

 

3. Deadlines for submission of manuscripts for publication in the Association’s journal are as follows: Japanese-language articles – September 28th (Tuesday), European-language articles – October 26th (Tuesday). More information will be provided at a later date.

 

4. Rules regarding research presentations and articles’ publication may be found here.

 

5. Individuals requiring an invitation letter may apply for one on the Association’s website starting in early May.
