The 74th Conference of the Japanese Association of Indian and Buddhist Studies (Second Circular)

In 2023, the Japanese Association of Indian and Buddhist Studies will hold its 74th conference online, hosted by Ryukoku University. Details are given below. We look forward to everyoneʼs participation

Place ： Online 
Time Limit for Presentations ： 15 minutes plus 5 minutes for discussion
Special Session ： This conference’s theme is “Present State of Studies on Buddhist Manuscript” (on September 3rd). Therefore, a special session will be held on this topic. If you would like to present as part of this special session, please indicate this on the online application form.

About Applying

 

• How to Apply  ： Applications are only accepted via the associationʼs website. The application form will be available starting on March 1st.
(The applications to attend/present at the conference will only be accepted via the associationʼs website. Applications will not be accepted via postal mail.)
• Application Period ： Start: March 1st (Wednesday) / End: March 15th (Wednesday)
  ※If due to unavoidable circumstances you are unable to apply via the associationʼs website, please contact the associationʼs secretariat by March 7th (Tuesday).
※Individuals wishing to only attend the conference without presenting may apply on the associationʼs website until August 18th (Friday).
• Notes
Special Session		 ：

1. Individuals must have a Google account and presentation abstract to apply.

※Please follow the formʼs instructions to submit your abstract (400 to 800 Japanese characters or no more than 400 words in English).
※Please make sure that your abstract communicates the major points of your presentation as well as its significance.

2. Presentation title and content may not be changed after the application.

3. Deadlines for submission of manuscripts for publication in the associationʼs journal are as follows: Japanese-language articles – September 26th (Tuesday), European-language articles – October 24th (Tuesday). More information will be provided at a later date.

4. Rules regarding research presentations and articlesʼ publication may be found here.

5. Individuals requiring an invitation letter may apply for one on the associationʼs website starting in early April.
